The Blacktip Challenge - Production and Technical Consultation
This seven-part documentary series produced, filmed, written, directed and edited by the Shark Brothers, Sean and Brooks Paxton, Founders of Shot Locker Productions, in association with tournament creator, Josh Jorgensen. As the project evolved, the Shark Brothers further provided expertise in designing specific catch, tag and release protocols, co-authoring the rules and regulations and publishing a best practices field guide for competing anglers. This guide outlined specific requirements to ensure the safe and proper handling of sharks, while maximizing their post-release welfare. They also coordinated research tagging with the National Marine Fisheries Service, Apex Predators Tagging Program.
