Back in November, we took a trip with Mom and Dad to check out the Sarasota Chalk Festival, just down the road in Venice, Florida. It features some freakishly talented artists from around the world. This year, dozens of them collaborated in taking a shot at a Guinness Book of World Records attempt. If successful, they will hold a North American title for the 'Largest Anamorphic Pavement Art Piece'. The theme for this year's festival was chosen to raise awareness for the World's extinct and endangered species so it was appropriate the  world record attempt depicted an extinct megalodon shark. Their extinction is contrary to recent accounts on Discovery Channel's Shark Week.

It rained cats and dogs the day we went out there. We could tell because we all walked outside and stepped in a poodle. But seriously, folks, before it all washed away, we did glimpse some AMAZING art and the megalodon shark was beyond impressive. Fortunately, that was done in latext paint so it will be around for a while.

Many thanks to photographer, Thomas Bender, for capturing some images, Lisa Orleans and the event's documentary producer, Dave Taylor, for allowing us to get up close and personal with what we hope will be a Guinness World Record. Good luck to all the artists and event organizers!
